One of the best ways to learn photography is to look at other photographers pictures. Flickr is an amazing website with thousands of pictures available at the click of a button. What's even better is the availability of exif information on most photographs which means you can find out what Camera, Lens, aperture and shutter speed was used to take the picture.
We hand picked 50 amazing photos on Flickr. Most of the photographs on this page weren't taken by professional photographers, but by enthusiastic photographers like you and me. In fact, most of the pictures on flickr are taken by enthusiastic photographers, and it is a great tool both for learning and showing your pictures to thousands around the world.
To me, there are no rules in photography. Rules are meant to be broken and more often than not broken rules produce great photographs. All that matters is that you capture the moment in a way that draws a reaction. There is no formula to a great picture - when you take one you will know it.

very nice collection, but i saw a lot of repeats of photographers. i also would of liked to see links back to the photo page on flickr so i could fave them, or comment on them, or see the exif data

Great compilation. I found some great new photographers to follow. I would suggest, however, that you consider linking to the actual photo on your blog. Several photos I wanted to mark as a "Fave" but I didn't have the time to search through their archives. Just a thought.

These are definitely not the best pictures I've seen on Flickr. I browse that site all the time, and I've seen hundreds of better photos than the selection depicted here.

Why is it every picture of some poor, preferably dark-skinned child or old person is considered cool. This is degrading and sickening. When one or two people do it to open our eyes to the plight of many then it can be justified, when everyone on holiday to some wretched part of the world leaves their resort for five minutes to take snapshots of the neglected, I for one find it disgusting.
Really a nice collection! The profession of photographer is almost history. Everybody can be a photographer nowadays! Keep up collecting!
Some were certainly amazing but only about 15-16 the rest were very average I though. I have seen better elsewhere.

I disagree with previous comments on how these aren't the best pictures on Flickr. They obviously stuck a chord with you, nobody can argue against YOU thinking they are amazing. Thankyou for sharing your taste and opinion with the world, I found it interesting, even if I didn't like some of the pictures as much as others.

Hey Sam, How do you know all of the "dark skinned" children and old people in the photos are poor? Could it be that you just assumed they were. Might you be showing a little bias of your own? :) Perhaps the pictures are "cool" because people think they really are beautiful pictures?

some of you need to learn to read instead saying "ooh look at the pretty pictures" No one said these were the best photographs in all of history...or on flickr for that matter...they just said they were amazing (which they are) and you should use them to boost your own creativity..and if you think you can do better...well good on you. now prove it.

every atom of this universe is amazing. even the ones that make up bigots. i stopped three or four times to linger just a second longer over some of these photos. how often in life does something truly do that? thanks for the collection, maybe not cutting edge but what really is these days?

i think the pictures are amazing cuz they are showing how every little thing on this world has something amazing about itself...some people u see at the street may seam ugly to u but even that person has something...it can be the eyes the mouth the haur,just something that is beautiful in it's own way

I just find it unfair to list the same photographer a zillion times. Try picking photos from those that dont get much views/hits - because I'm pretty sure there are some amateur photographers just waiting for someone to notice their skill. Anyways, some of these are pretty nice.
