How to Apply Develop Settings to Multiple Files in Adobe Camera Raw
May 02, 2008
Here's a handy little tip to apply develop settings to multiple files all at once. I often want to apply a certain preset to a bunch of files all at once, and this tip is a great time saver.
You can do this either directly via Bridge, or by opening a bunch of files in Camera Raw and applying the same settings to them from within Camera Raw.
Here's how to do it from within Bridge :
1) Select the file which develop settings you would like to copy, right click on it (pc) or ctrl-click (mac), then select develop settings and copy.
2) Multi select all the files you would like to apply the develop settings to, then right click on it (pc) or ctrl-click (mac), select develop settings and select paste.
Here's how to do it from within Adobe Camera Raw :
1) Select all the files you would like to open up in Camera Raw, right click on it (pc) or ctrl-click (mac), then select open in Camera Raw.
2) Once all the files are opened in Camera Raw, make sure to select all the files in the left hand pane. Then you can either make whichever adjustments you require, or you can select the presets tab in Camera Raw and apply an existing preset to all your selected files. Once you're done simply click "Done" to apply the presets, or you can open them all up in Photoshop by selecting "Open Images".
The great thing about opening all the files up in Camera Raw is that you can tweak and play around with the adjustments from within Camera Raw, and once you're happy with them you can apply them to the selected files. Doing it from within Bridge as shown in the first method is less flexible as you are copying settings you already made.
