Addressotype is based upon lettering from a vintage advertisement for the Addressograph-Multigraph Corporation, manufacturers of the Addressograph attending to machine. In days when the U.S. postal service delivered whatever, mailing addresses were as essential as e-mail addresses are today. The Addressograph devices stamped out dog-tag-like plates that were used to print mailing labels at high volume. Embodying the business's work principles and toughness, Addressotype recalls the gaspipe kind of lettering popular in the 30s and 40s, upgraded to reflect the "improving" pattern popular throughout the period.
