This new design increases the size of the typeface set from its previous two weights into a robust set of five varying from thin to black, all with prolonged language support including Cyrillic and Greek.

Berthold Wolpe started dealing with Albertus in 1932, at the motivation of Stanley Morison. Morison saw an example of Wolpe's personalized lettering and liked it so much that he commissioned a typeface based upon the style. Because then, the original Albertus typeface has actually been utilized on book covers, in branding, on indications and in video games.
