A couple of years earlier, at an antique book shop in London, I purchased a page from Chatelain's atlas-a page covering the Near East, India, the Indian Ocean-that had an especially attractive, oblique handlettering design. The text remains in French, which provided me a lot of samples of diacritics and accented characters.
The general impact is cool and understandable, with a clearly historical flair.
