As released in June, 1937, this is the description that accompanied Becker's 66th alphabet, Neonline:
NEONLINE, alphabet No. 66 in Alf R. Becker's INDICATIONS of the Times series, is an extremely strong, contemporary style for function display screen lettering. Care must be taken in the laying out of this alphabet, and every letter should be made as bold as possible.
Well that was a little an understatement! Luckily, this font style pak isn't understated. After the main Neon typeface was completed, a heap of work went into developing alternate character ranges, a second neon result, a layering option accessible by means of the designs menu, and 2 supplemental font styles for the headlining and text tasks. And did I discuss the extensive kerning? The finished result is a convenient little family that can tackle of wide array of design needs.
Many font style designers have taken on the task of taking Becker's extraordinary achievement from paper to digital, and numerous claim to treat his work with care and self-respect. However the Fontry's Becker font styles stay the most historically accurate and feasible treatments available, arriving in 2 industry-satisfying versions: CAS (Computer-Aided Signmaking) and DTP (Desktop Publishing).
