Years ago, by happenstance, designers Nancy Mazzei and Brian Kelly found an old run-down typewriter in a deserted lot with tall turf in Brooklyn. They kept it around their home for 2 years. Then one day they chose that it was time to move and they prepared to toss the old typewriter away. But it was so beautiful they wished to keep at least a part of it. So they selected keeping the secrets. They kept the keys in a brown bag till one fine day the secrets were introduced to a cam. It was a match made in paradise that led to some stunning eccentric pictures of typewriter keys. These images were the motivation for Backspacer. They were scanned, traced and become a working typeface by Zuzana Licko.
