Barteldes is a striking screen type family that reimagines classic American letters for the twenty-first century. Barteldes is perfectly suited to editorial, advertising, and package style. 6 weights can deal with a vast array of headings. Size-specific font styles maintain hairlines in little, medium, and large sizes. Swash capitals jazz up words. And an extensive character set covers over 200 languages.
Barteldes is based upon American architectural lettering and sign painting. Capital letters were based upon architectural lettering by the Denver architectural company Gove & & Walsh and constructed in 1906. Lowercase letters were based on exemplars in Frank Atkinson's classic manual "Sign Painting Already", published in 1909.
