Blacker Pro is the revised and extended variation of the initial wedge serif type family created by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini and Andrea Tartarelli in 2017. Blacker was established as a take on the design that Jeremiah Shoaf has defined as the "evil serif" category: typefaces with high contrast, oldstyle or contemporary serif proportions and sharp, blade-like triangular serifs.
Due to the high contrast in the design - a little similar to Didone typefaces - Blacker has actually been developed in two optical subfamilies. The display screen version provides tighter tracking, higher contrast and sharper corners for optimal result at big sizes, while the text alternative offers much better readability and screen making at smaller sizes, with lower contrast and looser spacing.
In the professional variation, two extra condensed alternative families have been added (condensed display and condensed text) enabling more liberty and versatility in typesetting where area constraints are present. Likewise, three titling uppercase-only variations have been added, with a somewhat extended feel, and 2 decorative subfamilies (inline and diamond).
.Each of these 7 versions has been developed in six weights from light to heavy, with matching italics, for an overall of 69 styles covering a large range of editorial and advertising uses. All Blacker Pro include a modified and extended character set covering over 2 hundred languages utilizing the latin, cyrillic and greek alphabets. Open type features include small caps, positional numerals, fractions, exceptional & & inferior figures, alternate forms, and an extended set of standard and discretionary ligatures.
.With its strong personality, Blacker aims to be a modern-day timeless used for vibrant declarations and uncomfortable brand names, making your text look fantastic both on paper and on the screens.
