Compact sans, suitable for setting long texts in little or very small type sizes: for packaging, instruction booklets, drug information leaflets and anything else that has to be clear at really little sizes. Lean and rhythmical, created preferably to be utilized at less than 8 points (Brevier was the old typefounders' name for 8-point type), Brevier holds up well even under unfavorable printing conditions. The obviously geometric letterforms hide Renaissance qualities, the x-height and openings are extremely generous and the strokes somewhat modulated. In order to balance out ink spread-- which is inescapable when printing very little sizes of type-- Brevier has large white areas in between the letters. All internal angles have deep ink traps and numerous connections have been left open.
