The function of Brutman was to produce a typeface that reimagined the incise design for the 21st century.
Its roots emerge from the humanistic design, adopting the structures of the roman capitals for the upright version and some functions of the chancery style for the italics. On the other side, its shapes are created by the frankness of the brutalist style, which can be seen in the asymmetrical flared terminations, the sharp shoulders and the diagonal cuts that imitate the tension of the broad nib pen.
The result is a typeface that integrates a sleek character with a historical flair. It communicates a sensation of modernity and elegance when it concerns shine in huge sizes, however on the functional size has sharp shapes that make it perform really well on small ones.
