Capo was designed by Gareth Hague and published by Alias. Capo includes 4 designs and household plan choices. p > The objective with Capo was to make a typeface with a pinched, angled connection between curves and verticals. We have actually explored this incised, cut theme previously on typefaces, most significantly Noah, Sabre and Harbour. These have focussed more particularly on stone-cut types.

For Capo we wanted to blend the meaningful quality of its 'pinch' idea with a general visual that could be applied to text instead of heading. So Capo has something of the function and warm, natural quality of Grotesque design typefaces.

In Capo's Bold and Black weights the sharpness of the letter shapes is more dramatic and stressed, producing fantastic result for large-sized text.

Why Capo? A capo is a device used on the neck of a stringed (usually stressed) instrument to reduce the playable length of the strings by pinching or clamping them in place, for this reason raising the pitch.
