Carta Marina was developed by Jeremy Dooley and released by insigne. Carta Marina includes 6 styles and household package options. p > Carta Marina is based upon the entitling discovered on the famous map drawn by Olaus Magnus in 1539. The map of northern Europe took 12 years to complete, and the overall size is a big 1.7 meters tall by 1.25 meters wide. More info about the map, along with the high resolution recommendation document utilized to develop the typeface and illustration set can be discovered at the James Ford Bell Library, University of Minnesota.

The entitling is slightly aged, extremely durable and elegant. Carta Marina consists of a complete set of OpenType alternates for every character in the English alphabet, oldstyle figures, historical kinds, small caps and 64 discretionary ligatures. These ligatures are utilized to alter the appearance of the type so that the printing appears practical and without any duplicate letters to detract from the antique appearance.

The Carta Marina household also consists of a few of the special illustrations that provided the map its character. It consists of representations of fanciful sea animals, land animals and some of the occupants of the lands pictured.
