Cast is a subtle sans serif type family of six weights with excellent properties for professional typography. Open kinds, make every effort for ideal curves and a modern and a little technical touch are attributes of Cast. The weights from light to black are well graded and the 467 glyphs per style cover an extended series of Latin languages. Varieties of OpenType features enable various figure sets, portions and much more. The manual kerning for each single weight represents the care and the quality of this typeface. An exceptional attribute of Cast is the performance in every size.
Cast had its beginning in 2007 during Dominique Kerber's Typedesign study (CAS Typedesign) at the ZHdK in Zurich (Switzerland). After graduation, Dominique Kerber continued dealing with this job to complete this totally developed font in March 2011. The expert exchange with his former fellow trainee Alex Meier in a shared studio used enrichment in this lengthy process.
The principle of Cast is to integrate the optical and official requirements to an enter small text with the ones for display or signage use. Are ink traps essential for instance? Do they look nice in huge sizes? How does ideal legibility behave in differing dimensions? What technical chances are there? Cast provides its own (possible) responses to these and ideally some other concerns in typography.
