The Cedi Typeface is a single weight display font style that is based on the fluid handwritten design of a work collegue, Cedric Roger. This design is a fast flowing script that is both vibrant and original yet similarly readable due to it's specified letterforms and open kinds. Despite working well in a routine format, throughout the design procedure I began to look at ligatures as a solution for fixing some bothersome mixes. However, this small implementation quickly got greatly broadened as I started to concentrate on the rythm of the letterforms and how best to communicate the hand drawn feature in the design. A common issue in most script font styles is the duplicating letterforms that would be particularily un-natural for this manual typeface, therefore hinting at it's digital source. The ligature concept soon progressed into over 2400 ligatures, attempting to cover all duplicating glyphs along with discovering more harmious combiations. This design was created for use in little text settings and use at large point sizes fitting titles, screen usage or logo designs.
