The 1940s was an age when couples took romantic strolls along the pathways of Manhattan's Central Park or rode around it in hansom cabs. Huge bands played at the significant clubs and ballrooms and 'uptown' suggested the well-to-do. Male worn their tuxedos and stovepipe hats and the girls remained in their gems and night gowns.
