Century Expanded consists of 2 designs and household bundle options. p > Theodore Low DeVinne, publisher of Century Publication, commissioned Linn Boyd Benton to develop a new typeface for the publication. The outcome, in 1894, was a roman type called Century Roman; a big x-height offered Century Roman the appearance of being condensed. Benton's boy, Morris Fuller Benton, redrew Century Roman for American Type Creators in 1900 so it would meet the standards of the Typographical Union. Benton's
