Charles Wright is a sans serif and display sans font family. This typeface has 9 designs and was published by K-Type.

K-Type Charles Wright is a complete typeface in the style of lettering used for British car license plates. The family consists of the basic Bold weight which is based on the condensed vibrant ‘‘ 2001' style with an uppercase which complies with UK registration plate requirements for character heights of 79mm and widths of 50mm.

.

The accredited household also includes formerly unavailable Medium and Routine weights, and a set of Obliques, each containing a recently created lowercase and a complete compliment of Latin Extended-A European accented characters.

.

The new typeface has actually also been carefully kerned to carry out well on the page. All 3 weights and their obliques include many typographical subtleties and aesthetic improvements to make the fonts more acceptable for style work. Curved terminals are a little less apparent so glyphs are more open and clearer. Rounded shapes are not quite as square as older versions so characters look less blocky. A tip of stroke contrast has actually been presented with horizontals being really slightly thinner than verticals on the Bold, a little more contrast on the Medium and Regular weights.

.

The vertex of the M and pinnacle of the W are pointed, though slightly rounded to be easy on the eye and prevent congestion. The middle strokes of both letters are more open and clearer than other Charles Wright 2001 fonts where the cropped M and W appear too heavy and tightly packed. Also, since the letter Q is not utilized for registration plates, the K-Type Charles Wright typeface enables the tail of the Q to descend below the baseline.

.

For lorry platemakers, 3 additional typefaces are included which only consist of uppercase letters, numerals and basic punctuation, and which are not kerned:
Charles Wright Motorcycle is a version of the somewhat lighter, smaller sized lettering on motorcycle plates for character heights of 64mm and widths of 44mm.
Charles Wright 1935 is a version of the original wider lettering, still used on the plates of older automobiles, for character widths of 57mm and height of 79mm.
Charles Wright Bold Caps includes unkerned uppercase letters and characters in the basic 2001 design for character heights of 79mm and widths of 50mm.
