MöllenstädtA real option for letterpress printing, A masterpiece. It was just after lots of years, shortly prior to the end of his life, Bernd Möllenstädt drew out these early drafts of his Classica Light and Light Italic from his drawer, and asked me to produce for him on the computer system a Bold and Bold Italic, from which we later on desired to insert more cuts like Routine and so on. The boldening of letters with an oblique axis and with hairlines which should not grow to the exact same degree as the basic line widths, is difficult to manage perfectly, even for the most intelligent computer system program, and much more so, when it concerns an as complex set of information as those conceived by Bernd. The immediately produced outcome could therefore just be a very first action that needed to be enhanced manually later on. This had to do with the stage that we had reached when Bernd died in March 2013, leaving me behind with extensive corrections on evidence of this automatically produced Strong. Although I knew that it would indicate a lot of work to complete the job, I did not desire to leave it unfinished and decided to complete and release the Classica, also in Bernd's honor. In the course of the 2 years that I dealt with this font style household it somewhat naturally became also my own. New information were added and a few of the existing altered. A book typeface needs the supreme and forgives seldom, it represents a real masterpiece. My intent and my aspiration were to develop a real option for letterpress printing, with a typeface family which contains all the typographic alternatives for an outstanding typesetting, and is better readable and has a better look than other existing typefaces.
