The Combi collection of faces consists of Serif, Serif Oblique, Sans, Sans Oblique, a true Italic and a set of Openface capitals. Combi typefaces have 5 compatible weights and metrics allowing them to be used in totally free mix. Inspiration came from Jan Van Krimpen's Romulus (Enschedé, 1931). In addition to the Roman style, Van Krimpen developed a set of open capitals, a basic oblique variation and subsequently, an appealing calligraphic italic, Cancelleresca Bastarda. In addition to Van Krimpen's concept, Combi has been influenced by functions from many faces including Bembo, Melior and Optima. The item was to create a flexible family of body text and entitling faces for usage in books, publications and on the web. Glyphs are readily available for most Latin based languages and all fonts consist of small caps and proportional numeral options.
