Consolas is gone for usage in shows environments and other circumstances where a monospaced font is specified. All characters have the same width, like old typewriters, making it a great option for individual and company correspondance. The better Windows font style display permitted a style with proportions closer to regular text than standard monospaced font styles like Carrier. This enables more conveniently reading of extended text on screen. OpenType features consist of hanging or lining characters; slashed, dotted and regular nos; and alternative shapes for a variety of lowercase letters. The appearance of text can be tuned to individual taste by differing the number of bars and waves.
Consolas is featured in the Microsoft ClearType Typeface Collection, a set of fonts developed to take benefit of ClearType to improve the reading experience in Windows Vista and Workplace 2007.
