Over the past 25 years paper production has seen spectacular improvements in paper and print quality, the introduction of colour printing, and significantly much better register. Newspaper production still requires a lot of letter kinds, but advanced printing brings out details better and makes typography more attractive to readers. For text type the paper is no longer an environment in which survival is the primary assignment.
Today, newspapers are not simply a matter of inexpensive grey paper, thin ink and super-fast rotary printing, and type design no longer needs to concentrate on enduring the mechanical innovation and providing elementary legibility. Now there is also space to develop an ambience, to provide a paper a clearer identity of its own; there is scope for precision and improvement. One consequence of this is that paper designers can now look beyond the conventional group of newsfaces. On the other hand, a newsface can be used outside the paper - not an unusual incident.
The upgrade to this beautiful typeface family, Coranto 2, includes the addition of over 250 glyphs featuring complete Latin A language assistance, new ligatures, 4 sets of characters, approximate fractions and superiors/inferiors. Moreover, kerning was added and tweaked for much better efficiency.
