Dear Sarah Pro includes 1 design. p > Thoroughly thought about letters composed long-hand, sealed in an envelope and sent out across continents were when the only connection for distant pals and fans. Dear Sarah is a type that evokes the emotion of those handwritten messages. Using alternates, ligatures and a complex system for randomization and natural linked characters, Dear Sarah seeks to push the limits of digital type.

The guiding question that drove the design of Dear Sarah was whether it was possible to create a natural looking script that worked well in running text. Hand-written types often work for 2 or three words, but as quickly you take a look at them in a paragraph, their unnatural textures make them feel contrived. As one of the first severe types to check out OpenType for a connected script, Dear Sarah utilizes an unique system to develop natural connections. Typically script types rely on one connecting point to make sure that all their characters meshed effectively. Characters that naturally connect much greater, such as the 'o' or 'v' are distorted to connect at the exact same point as an 'a' or a 'c'. Dear Sarah uses multiple sets of lower-case characters to connect at several points, producing a much more natural looking script. OpenType is also used to develop range, by utilizing randomization strategies to place detached characters in addition to alternates, ligatures, swashes and ink blots to produce a natural rhythm throughout several lines.
