The typeface family known as
Didot was designed by Firmin
Didot in Paris in 1783. The
Didot types specified the qualities of the contemporary (or Didone) roman type style, with their considerable stems streaming into extremely thin hairlines; the serifs are straight throughout with virtually no bracketing. Due to the fact that of the really great hairlines that are characteristic of contemporary romans, their use was rather restricted in metal types.
Developed by Adrian Frutiger for digital technology in 1992, Linotype
Didot maintains all of the functions that make
Didot types exceptional for book work and other text usage; like Bodoni, its fragile lines are boosted in display screen uses.
