Designed by Dave Rowland, Engria is a serif font style household. This typeface has eight styles and was published by Schizotype Fonts.

Engria is a type family of four weights with corresponding italics that treads the fine line between sans and serif. There are serifs, of a sort, inspired by the brush. Not the marks made by a brush, but the actual splayed shape the bristles make when clamped together. Wedge-like portions that look like engraved forms, as the name Engria mean. But it also has the look of a stressed out, flared sans. This combined approach provides a special voice. Highly readable at text sizes, as certainly it is optimized for, Engria does however shine at display sizes thanks to its characteristic information-- flared stems, angular counterforms, rugged ink traps and fluid curves. (I would advise tracking it a little tighter at bigger sizes.)

.

Engria started life method back in 2014, and has actually been worked and remodelled relentlessly to get to this completed product. My intent was to truly press the concept of the white shapes being as important, if not more so, than the black.

.

Engria is equipped for typographically requiring applications, boasting as it does a selection of OpenType features, including little caps, automated fractions, stylistic sets, numerous figure styles, arrows, case delicate kinds and more. It will make a very useful addition to your typographic arsenal, with a flare (ahem) for editorial work, however the uniqueness for product packaging, branding, and logo design work.
