The type household in four fundamental styles was created in ParaType (ParaGraph) in 1992 by Tagir Safayev. Based upon Frutiger, of Mergenthaler Linotype, 1976 by Adrian Frutiger. Frutiger typeface was originally designed for use on indications at the new Charles de Gaulle Airport at Roissy. The uncomplicated sans serif shapes are suited well for both text and screen setting. 6 extra designs were included 1998-2000. Multilingual versions of 6 designs (Light, Demi and Extrabold) consist of Armenian alphabet designed by Manvel Shmavonyan in 1997. Two condensed Cyrillic designs (Demi Condensed and Bold Condensed) created by Manvel Shmavonyan in 2009.
