Goudy explained this typeface design as a 'typographic solecism' as it combines a lowercase of half-uncial kinds from the 4th through 7th centuries with an uppercase of square capitals from the fourth century. Steve Matteson established the typeface as a homage to Goudy and his happiness of typographic expedition.
Steve produced a total character set with OpenType typographic improvements to give the typeface a genuine appearance to the initial. Friar Pro is a lovely design which imparts a scribal appearance to any file consisting of greeting cards, certificates and official documents.
