Koehler produced a big line of stock cardboard 'Blue Signs' (presumably blue backgrounds with white lettering) and together with the many basic expressions utilized by various organizations was a list of amusing sayings.

Such placards were bought by merchants to either evoke interest in their services (such as in a bar or restaurant, or jokingly discuss their service policies (as in credit billing).
