Futura is THE prototype of a geometric or built direct sans serif and the typeface of its kind most frequently used to date. Futura, quite influenced by the Bauhaus motion in Germany, was designed in 1927 by Paul Renner. Although being around for practically 90 years, Futura seems permanently young and fresh which also explains its continuous popularity with designers and typographers. Futura simply suggests performance and functionality documented by both its many uses as business type (e.g. Volkswagen, formerly IKEA, Vuitton, Shell, previously HP, SMA and much more) as well as in numerous famous movie jobs (e.g. Kubrick, Anderson etc.). Futura's renowned status was most likely developed when it strolled on the moon with the Apollo 11 crew in 1969. It was utilized for the lettering of the plaque that was left up there.
Futura Round is a softer extensio to this household with rounded edges.
