Hardy was one of the finest of the English poster designers of the 1890s. Although he is not known to have developed an official typeface as such, he developed a distinctive lettering style that he utilized, with variations, on the majority of his posters. This font household is motivated by that design, drawing from several of his posters. It is called after his well-known 1894 poster for the musical A GAIETY WOMAN.
