Gira Sans is Rui Abreu's personal take on the grotesque design. Rui tried to find inspiration in the early sans serifs of the 19th century; not with the objective to do a revival of Victorian types, however rather in an effort to instill a contemporary face with a lively, human feel. The resulting typeface is distinctly contemporary yet discreetly wacky, similar to classic grotesques. It integrates tidy, clear letterforms with wonderful curved information. The family is available in seven weights-- ranging from a slim Thin to a cheerful, chubby Extra Strong-- all with matching true italics.

Gira's healthy character shapes, large x-height, and generous percentages make it perform well in extended body copy. Given the fact that it is a grotesque, subtle features like the delicate modulation of the strokes and the nearly imperceptible angle of the rounded letters boosts its efficiency as a text face. When utilized big the distinctive design details like the rounded dots and oblique cuts make it a charismatic display face. This flexible type household provides personality to editorial design and headlines, and can be utilized for a varied series of other typographic applications.

The totally featured family of OpenType typefaces consists of small caps for all the weights, eight figure styles, complete latin language assistance and extended ligature sets.
