It is based on the 2' wood inscriptions Frederic Goudy made for his book 'The Trajan Capitals' - an influential book about the history of the Roman letter. These letterforms predate the work of Daddy Catich's extensive study of the Trajan Column and, while incredibly devoted to the engraving, have Goudy's interpretive finger prints.
