Holland Gothic was created by Coen Hofmann and released by URW Type Foundry. Holland Gothic contains 1 style. p > Blackletter font styles are timelessly lovely and still preferred. At some point, it appears that every type designer finds the charm of these forms and the great satisfaction in producing blackletter characters. Like also Dutch designer Coen Hofmann who, after designing Caxtonian Gothic, has actually created yet another Blackletter typeface: Holland Gothic. Holland Gothic reminds of the 18th century "Duytsch" typefaces of Joan Michael Fleischmann and Christoffel Van Dyck. However Hofmann was primarily motivated by the Dutch calligraphers from the 17th and 18th century. Holland Gothic develops its full charm and appeal at larger sizes because of the hairlines in the upper case characters. To allow users making up texts in the design of our forefathers, Coen Hofmann added a series of pre-composed ligatures, also in combination with the long s, plus an alternate kind for the lower case r which was used in combination with letters b, d, g, o, p, v, and w.
