Houschka was named after Georg Houschka, a sadly defunct confectioner's shop in Salzburg, Austria, which had a terrific 1930s frontage and distinctively rounded letterforms in the indication above the door. Houschka Pro is the follow up to the original Houschka type household which initially appeared back in 1999. Character shapes have been enhanced, kerning and spacing improved, and OpenType functions consist of CE, Baltic, Turkish & & Cyrillic language support plus small caps, 3 stylistic sets, contextual alternates, ligatures and 4 sets of numerals.
Houschka is a tidy and legible modern-day sans serif typeface which shares the humanist qualities of Gill Sans and Johnston however maintains a distinctively lovely character of its own (especially in signature glyphs A, G, Q, W, u & & w). The monolinear structure, rounded corners and rolling curves offer Houschka a soft and friendly look.
