Designed by Richard Kegler, Terry Wüdenbachs and William Hamilton Page, HWT American Chromatic is a grunge and display screen piece typeface family. This typeface has eight styles and was released by P22 Type Foundry.

The HWT American Chromatic set is a multilayered font set that will permit countless possible color and pattern combinations. The original 19th Century chromatic that this font set is based upon included 2 typefaces. The HWT digital variation consists of 8. The positioning is set up to allow any mix of the 8 font styles to all align when similar text is set and arranged, one on top of the other. Due to the extremely decorative nature of this font set, the character set is limited to upper case just with basic punctuation. 5 of the 8 fonts in the set can be used individually as variations of the timeless Tuscan design of wood type, which is defined by its concave stems and serifs. There are no accented characters also due to the elaborate nature of the design and because there were no accents originally meant for this design.
