HWT Artz was developed by Erik Spiekermann and released by Hamilton Wood Type Foundry. HWT Artz includes 1 style. p > HWT Artz is the latest wood type to be cut at Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum. It was designed by age-old type designer Erik Spiekermann solely for his own print studio (P98a in Berlin), particularly to be cut into big size wood type. The digital variation is being provided to the basic public with profits of sales to benefit the museum's continuous operations.

HWT Artz evokes vibrant early 20th century European poster lettering. The style itself is meant to lessen hand-finishing and hence production time with rounded corners instead of sharp interior corners that would generally have to be hand-finished.

In keeping with the custom of calling new Hamilton designs after key figures from the living history of Hamilton (and following Spiekermann's custom of 4 letter font names), Artz is named after Dave Artz- Hamilton Manufacturing retired person and master type trimmer.
