HWT Gothic Round was developed by Miguel Sousa and published by Hamilton Wood Type Foundry. The design evokes a much more recent history of the 1960s and 70s and can be seen in such locations as donut stores and on children's toys along with inspiration for such fonts as VAG Rounded.

Gothic Round has actually not formerly been readily available as a digital font previously. The font was digitized by Miguel Sousa from a wide variety of historic sources, including sees to the Cary Collection at RIT (Rochester, NY), WNY Book Arts Center (Buffalo, NY) and the Hamilton Wood Type Museum (2 Rivers, WI). The outcome is an extremely solid and contemporary font with a 175 year history.
