Irena is a cubist/expressionist font inspired by Vojtěch Preissig. Preissig (1873-1944) was a Czech typographer, printmaker, illustrator and teacher, whose work was influenced by Japanese Art and Importance. During WWII, Preissig supported the Czech resistance and he was detained in 1940. He passed away on June 11th in Dachau prisoner-of-war camp. This typeface was called after his daughter
Irena Bernášková. The
Irena typeface is angular and square( ish), yet simple to read. It comes with substantial language support.
