Iturritxu was created by Mark Davies and published by Salamandra. Iturritxu consists of 2 designs and household package choices. p > Iturritxu (a little spring or water fountain in the Basque language) is the fundamental design, one letterform per character, utilizing highly legible glyphs matched to text applications. It consists of Latin characters for Western European, Central European and Baltic Languages, plus Romanian and Turkish.

Iturritxu 2020 is the feature-rich style for OpenType friendly applications. Developed to work specifically well with the concave consonants and nesting vowels (KO, RO, TXO, ZO and so on) typical in Basque (Euskara), the font style also has lots of ligatures and contextual functions for other languages such as English and Welsh. Much of the motivation for the contextual kinds comes from the substance consonants and vowel signs of North Indian scripts. Small capitals, old-style numerals (with optional swashes), sub and superscript numerals are all present. A PDF guide to the functions is included in the 2020 bundle together with the fundamental Iturritxu font.
