Kate Greenaways Alphabet is a novelty typeface published by Wiescher-Design.

Some time ago I purchased my smallest book ever: Kate Greenaway's Alphabet * 57 x 72 mm. I thought it was the sweetest little book I had actually ever seen. Not understanding about the fame of the designer Kate Greenaway (1846-1901) I put it in some dark drawer and took a look at it from time to time.
Kate's books were all outstanding successes in English publishing history, she was an icon of the Victorian age. Some of those books are still being reprinted today. This little gem I had accidentially obtained has actually ended up being very unusual and I have actually not found any reprints yet.
So I believed possibly I can handle to adapt her illustrations for usage on todays computers. I ventured to redraw her fragile illustrations blowing them up 300 percent, being required to streamline them without loosing her touch. It took rather some time! While redrawing them I found that she most definitely drew them in a minimum of three different sessions as well.
Then I scanned my illustrations and put them in a typeface. To make the font more usable, I added the 10 numerals in Kate's design, the initial does not have those. I hope she would have liked my adaptions.
Yours in an extremely preserving mood Gert Wiescher.
