Kontiki digitally imitates a handmade woodprint and provides four different qualities of print for each of the 560 characters. To create the Kontiki fonts, 193 glyphs were manually cut into five wooden plates and thoroughly printed by hand. From countless test prints, the most lovely four were selected and digitized. Kontiki uses a designer the possibility to create a printed image that is very near a standard woodprint, but is cheaper to produce a much easier to fix. As the heat of by hand printed matter has actually become a sign of quality and taste, Kontiki is rather helpful for product packaging, editorial and business design.
