Designer James Puckett established Lorimer No. 2 as the result of investigating nineteenth century memorial engravings. A condensed sans serif inscription on a Manhattan burial vault triggered research study and experimentation. Research study showed up similar letters in American wood type, memorials in an Indian cathedral, and enameled tiles in the New york city City train. Puckett established his experiments into a type household with 2 widths, 5 weights, and matching italics.
