Giambattista Bodoni developed this modern-day typeface in 1790 which acted as the structural design for Sol Hess's faithful performance. Hess made needed adjustments for mechanical typesetting on Lanston's Monotype composition system. Remastered in 2006 by Paul Hunt, Bodoni Pro features lining and oldstyle figure plus a set of "French oldstyle" figures.

The Pro variation likewise includes: long descender alternative, small caps, ligatures and a Main European Character set.

Bodoni Vibrant was drawn by London based type designer Dave Farey for Lanston Type during among his alter-ego bouts as Giambattista Bodoni in the early 1990s.
