As with a few other Goudy faces, this is a "Gothicized" Roman. This style stemmed as a personal press type for a "college in the West" but the commission fell through.
Lanston Monotype has recommended to Goudy that they may launch a font after he "handed down" with the fixed name "Goudy Thirty".
.Goudy Thirty was created in 1942, Goudy passed away in 1947 and the face was launched in 1953. The uncommon number associates with ‘‘ Thirty 'as the newspaper trade term which implies ‘‘ end of story'.
.There are two variations of Goudy Thirty. Both function ligatures and both variations are readily available integrated as one OpenType Pro font which also includes a full Central European character set.
