Lucida, created and produced by Kris Holmes and Charles Bigelow in 1985, is one of the very first typefaces created with both bitmapped screen screens and laser printing in mind.

Lucida was likewise among the first of the very household typefaces, sharing percentages and weights between serif and sans.

The Lucida typefaces perform well under adverse conditions such as fax transmission, low resolution printing, little point sizes, and reversed-out of halftones.

Certified under U.S. Patents Des. 289,421; 289,422; and 289,773.
