Makiritare was developed by John Moore and published by John Moore Type Foundry. Makiritare contains 3 styles and family package choices. p > Makiritare is a display font style for headings that originates from a research work on pure geometry of excellent simplicity from a Venezuelan ethnic background artisanal kind from men called Makiritare or Yecuana. These rivers sailors and architects of the jungle live in the village of Santa Maria de Erebato on the border with Brazil. Despite having a prodigious significance in their art, they didn't have until just recently a font that is customized to your expression.

It all began with a trip to the Amazon in 1976 with the concept of producing my thesis as a graphic style student. In 1992 I created the very first letterform that was progressing to a more elaborate version being provided and picked at the International Typography Biennial Letras Latinas in 2006.

Today JMTF presents Makiritare with a more complete and mature family of 3 weights, alternative characters, little caps, ordinals and ligatures. Makiritare fits any application that have an innovative and modernist functions. Advised for titles or brief phrases, with striking large-scale use.
