While operating at a trade magazine several years back, I appreciated the hand-lettering of a coworker and suggested she let me model a typeface after her penmanship. She drew out the alphabet, and I launched (then Altsys) Fontographer and (to reduce a long story) ended up designing my first font style. For the heck of it, I launched it and, amazingly, it removed. And since then, Marydale herself has had the combined blessing of seeing her handwriting (and name) plastered all over the planet. The Marydale household has regular, strong, and black weights; OpenType functions include true little caps, various ligatures, and a stylistic set that substitutes a couple of less eccentric glyphs-- along with assistance for Central/Eastern European, Greek, and Cyrillic languages.
