The Russian word Мир (Mir) suggests both World and Peace.
The rendezvous of the 2 terms seems rather special and utopistic today, however it is reassuring to see that it was natural at a long time deep down in Russian history. Bits of both meanings were going through my mind while I was developing this typeface.
Mir's character set is multiscript-- Latin, Cyrillic and Greek-- and extends to numerous parts of the linguistic world. In truth it covers more than 100 languages. Stylistic consistency between the language systems make typographic border crossings painless even where national borders are still carefully safeguarded. And in areas where mathematics, physics or chemistry are to be expressed, a rich set of OpenType features lets Mir master likewise these situations.
Serious things are best be said in an unwinded, unpretentious method. So Mir does not put on a show. Mir has authority without being authoritarian, it is major but not stern. It can discuss hard things and stay calm and down to earth at the very same time.
Mir Medium has another beneficial feature: It can be freely downloaded and used by any person anywhere. You can evaluate the Mir Family with complimentary Mir Medium and get more designs when you require them.
