Modesto is a loose-knit household based on an indication painters lettering design popular in the late 19th and early twentieth centuries. The font styles progressed from the lettering I used for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & & Bailey Circus logo design. The Modesto household was not prepared. It simply occurred, a couple of typefaces at a time over about fifteen years. Modesto Open is a shirt-tail relative.
