I remained in hostels and small guesthouses and observed a strange thing they all had in typical: they love little notes, telling you where to go, what to do, how to utilize the microwave and when to take a look at. These notes were sometimes printed, but more frequently they were handwritten. I discovered that the Japanese method of composing roman characters is a little, well, uncommon. The letters are appropriate, but they have that normal 'Japanese look' - most significantly the a and A the b, d and g, the p and P and the t and T. I can't really tell you what makes them look various, possibly it's the proportions, however I do understand that a Nippon Note is extremely recognisable.
So, here is Nippon Keep in mind, a highly recognisable, handcrafted typeface. You do not really have to be in Japan to use it, but it will give your designs that additional prestige. Comes with substantial language support, but unfortunately not Japanese ...
